Google Earth for Mac OS X (GoogleEarthMac.app.zip) is now available through MacUpdate website that tracks Macintosh Software releases. Google Earth for Mac OS X is said to include a superior set of satellite imagery when compared to the Google Maps Web service, offering additional clarity and a deeper zoom function.
Google released its popular Google Earth product for Windows in June and promised Mac users at the time that a native version would be available in the future. The official Google Earth download page says work on the Mac OS X version is continuing.
The build of Google Earth available for download is dated December 1, 2005 and is numbered 3.1.0371.0 (beta). At press time, Google had yet to respond to inquiries from The Mac Observer regarding the beta.
Update: MacUpdate have removed the link to Download Google Earth 3.1.0371 for Mac citing the following reason:
The version MacUpdate linked to yesterday was not a release made by Google so it has been removed as a listing on MacUpdate until Google does indeed release it as being officially available for the Macintosh. You can download Google Earth for Mac from a mirror link here.
