The deal struck in November last year between Mamma and Copernic is finally approved and Mamma.com would acquire Copernic Technologies.
This deal has had several ups and downs when Copernic killed the proposed agreement in April to be taken over by Mamma.com Inc. after the announcement that Mamma.com was the subject of a formal investigation by U.S. securities regulators. [via]
Mamma.com derives revenue from pay-per-click and graphic ads and this acquisition will certainly expose Mamma.com’s advertisers to a broader demographic.
Copernic recently unveiled Copernic Desktop Search 1.6 that allows desktop search features from withing the Firefox browser or IE through a toolbar.
In another development, News Corp. is in talks to acquire Blinkx, another popular desktop search tool.
